A Game Changer Story

A picture is worth a thousand words

Stamatis Moraitis tending his vineyard and olive grove on Ikaria.

Stamatis Moraitis was living in the US when he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in his mid-60s. He decided to return to his ancestral home in Ikararia in Greece for the remaining months of his life. When his childhood friends heard he had returned they visited every afternoon, bringing a bottle or two of locally produced wine. In the months that followed he started to feel stronger and decided to plant vegetables in his garden. Six months came and went, and his health continued to improve. The island of Ikararia together with his new life, proved to be a game changer for Stamatis who lived beyond 100.
